Learning Objectives: 

  1. Participants will understand DBT adherence protocols for teaching skills groups. 

  2. Participants will gain knowledge in learning styles and how to teach to learning styles to increase learner engagement. 

  3. Participants will practice one teaching intervention for DBT skills training groups to demonstrate understanding.

Meet Your Trainers

Heather Cruz, MA, LPCC is a nationally certified DBT clinician with the Linehan Board since 2019.  She has been running DBT groups, both adult and adolescent/multi-family, for over nine years.  She is the DBT team lead for The Meadows Center DBT program, which also holds national certification through the Linehan Board.  Prior to her career as a therapist, Heather worked as an elementary education teacher, and still holds a teaching license.  

 

Becky graduated from the University of St. Thomas/College of St. Catherines in 2009 in the Advanced Standing Clinical Social Work program. She is licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, and is an approved supervisor for the BSW and BBHT boards.She has had over 24 years of experience in mental health, working in case management, skills practitioner, and individual/school/family therapy roles. Her passion lies within the DBT model, providing treatment for adults with co-occurring morbidities, first responders, and active military and veterans.  Becky also is very passionate about providing care for individuals who have experienced trauma, being a trained prolonged exposure therapist and a Master Level trained Accelerated Resolution therapist. 

She has a strong passion to normalize mental health care and creates an equal partnership with her clients; creating a safe and professional environment for clients to heal. 

Outside of work, Becky is an avid dog lover and devoted Chicago Bears fan. 


Meadows Center for Mental Health Services, LLC will refund workshop participants should a scheduled event be cancelled due to weather or the health of the presenter.  Participants will not be refunded for partial attendance, missed attendance, or if they are unsatisfied with the workshop.  The presenter may offer refunds or discounts to participants based on their own discretion. All program fees, cancellation, and refund information will be made available to participants upon registration. 

Meadows Center for Mental Health Services, LLC will maintain the confidentiality of participants, including name and related program participation, from the general public.  Upon request of workshop participants, information about the workshop or the participants name may be shared with licensing boards. 

Meadows Center for Mental Health Services LLC welcomes both positive and complaint feedback. All aspects of a complaint will be handled in confidence. However, if the complaint involves allegations of illegal or unethical behavior, information may need to be shared with external authorities.  All complaints are documented. The maintenance of complaint files is the responsibility of Meadows Center for Mental Health Services, LLC Owner.
